Rev. Robert L Johnson

Rev. Robert L. Johnson is a native of Philadelphia, PA.  He is a graduate of Bok Technical High School in South Philadelphia.  He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Morristown College in Morristown, Tennessee in 1988.  Rev. Johnson's drive for excellence took him to Albright College in Reading, PA where he completed a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1991.  From Albright College, God led him to the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio where, in 1995, he was blessed to receive his Master of Divinity degree. While in Dayton, he also served as pastor to Residence Park United Methodist Church (1992-1995).

    After completion of his Seminary education, Rev. Johnson was appointed to Simpson - Fletcher United Methodist Church. Under his leadership, God blessed the church with outstanding growth, both spiritually and in membership.  Rev. Johnson served Simpson - Fletcher for 14 years (1995-2009).

    Rev Johnson served as the senior pastor at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church from 2009 – 2014. Under his leadership Mt. Zion had the highest Sunday morning attendance (147) and had weekly streaming audience of 30 persons watching online.  A feeding ministry as well a strong partnership with Temple University were started. He has a passion for preaching and teaching the word of God. Rev. Johnson is a creative and progressive pastor who has passion for leading Gods people through the word and spirit of God. As of July 1,2014 Rev. Johnson was appointed the Pastor of Tindley Temple UMC.

       Rev. Johnson is a member of Historic Tindley Temple UMC, Black United Methodist Preachers, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, The Lupus Foundation, The Black Empowerment Group, the NAACP, The Interdenominational Pastors Alliance and a host of other civic organizations.

        Rev. Johnson is married to Dr. Charnita M. Zeigler-Johnson who is a vital part of his ministry.  They have two wonderful children, Chareina Carrie and Robert James.  Rev. Johnson's favorite scripture is "I can do all things through Christ Who Strengthens Me. -Phil 4: 13
